Past Projects- Challenges Successfully MetThe Challenge: A major telecommunications company needed a way to showcase its voice recognition and text-to-speech technology to build acceptance of its product line. The Solution: SEI developed a unique application that allowed users to browse the internet by voice using either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Users' reactions? "Wow" is typical. The Challenge: A small company in California wanted to help recording studio engineers measure their hearing with the high level of accuracy required by that industry using only a PC and a set of accurate headphones. The Solution: An audiometry program so complete and accurate it was used by NASA in the Space Shuttle Atlantis to test the hearing of the astronauts while in space The Challenge: A major chip vendor needed to showcase their newly developed USB chip for potential OEMs. The Solution: We developed a hardware, software and firmware reference design that allowed Standard Microsystems to show their customers a complete, consumer-oriented, USB audio record and playback device. The Challenge: A security products company needed a way to control access to files on a user-by-user basis on all Windows operating systems. The Solution: A compact yet highly secure module that is the core of a widely used security product. The Challenge: An audio technology company needed market its complex audio encoding under Microsoft Windows as a real time option for game developers Microsoft said it couldn't be done. The Solution: We developed a unique combination of system-level components that allow our client's encoding technology to work transparently to applications and other drivers. Watch for some very interesting developments in the game marketplace in the near future that incorporate our work! The Challenge: A major chip manufacturer wanted offer its customers a printer chip that would drastically lower production costs for printers. The Solution: Drivers that move most of the processing from the printer to the host and that cut the cost of printer silicon to a fraction of what it would otherwise be. The Challenge: A voice-over-internet company needed a foolproof way to set up sound levels for its users. The Solution: An easy, step-by-step program that guides the user through every detail of setting up the record and playback process. The Challenge: A major high-end audio hardware manufacturer needed cross-platform support for its products. Drivers had been developed, but they were not stable and had been developed by developers with different approaches to programming. Our client needed a set of drivers with as much common code as possible so that changes made in the hardware could be reflected on all platforms with a minimum of difficulty. The Solution: We documented the drivers in detail, revised and rewrote the drivers so that they used a common approach, and set up detailed communications channels between the developers involved so that changes could be reflected easily and quickly. | |||
